Curriculum Objective

The following goals have been set in order to faithfully perform its functions as a special purpose
university established for the training of elementary school teachers

  • Must strive to possess well-rounded character and refinement as a person in charge of people’s basic education.

  • Establish a firm view of the nation and clear ideology of the teaching profession.

  • Develop the ability to promote child growth and development.

  • Acquire expert knowledge regarding all fields of subjects in elementary school and develop effective teaching ability.

  • Cultivate a demeanor of striving for continual self development and growth in teaching profession as well as having the ability to respond to the changes and demands of the time and society.

Curriculum Organization Principle

  • Systematically connect each fields of the curriculum in order to promote the possession of character for teaching, expert knowledge and extensive refinement as an elementary school teacher.

  • Develop expert knowledge and demeanor related to theory and practice of elementary education.

  • Master the guiding principle of elementary education curriculum as well as contents and method, and develop research ability related to the field of education.

  • Complete intense course work for specific individual fields to possess expertise in applicable subject or the field of teaching profession.

  • Construct curriculum that can be closely connected to the actual site of elementary school.

Organization of Curriculum and Credits

  • The general classification of the curriculum is general education course and major course, in which each of the course is subdivided into required and selective.

  • The total number of credits required for completion of bachelor’s degree for this university is more than 146 credits, with distribution of the credits as follows; 40 credits from general education, 106 credits from major course [pedagogy education(18), subject education activity(64), intensive course(18), elective(2), practice teaching(4), thesis(pass/fail system).

  • For the teachers to possess guiding character and extensive refinement, general education curriculum has been organized to include basic general education subjects and required or selective courses classified in humanities, language and literature, social science, natural science, the arts and sport for all, in order to learn basic general education subjects and experience basic concept and research method in various fields of study.

  • Major course subjects are divided into pedagogy education, subject education, special activity, intensive course, elective, practice teaching and graduation thesis.

    • Pedagogy education subjects deal with expert understanding of education, basic principles of curriculum education and child guidance.

    • Curriculum education subjects deal with each curriculum education’s curriculum education I (study of teaching materials) and curriculum education II (teaching method) in elementary school.

    • Elective requires selection and completion of 1 subject from other intensive course

    • Practice teaching is conducted in divided sections including practice teaching Ⅰ·Ⅱ·Ⅲ·Ⅳ and education service practice

  • Intensive course consists of 12 courses including ethics education, Korean language education, social science education, mathematics education, science education, physical education, music education, fine arts education, practical course education, elementary education, English education, computer education and etc.
